who we are

At Church 242 we have the conviction that Jesus is the only One who can change us. And, he is available to everyone. Whether we've been attending church our whole life, or we've never once been part of a church, or maybe we’ve been hurt by a church in the past, one thing we know - we’re all looking for hope. We believe Jesus is our hope, and we simply want you to know Him more. Jesus loves and accepts us as we are.

OUR STORY
Church 242 was started in December of 2023, by a group of people with a desire to gather together to be a church like the early church described in the New Testament. Our name is based on Acts 2:42-47 which talks about what the early church looked like after Jesus returned to heaven:

“They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. Praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people, and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Like that early church, at Church 242 we want to focus on the same things the first disciples of Jesus did, and we trust God to make it a reality. We consider ourselves simply a modern-day extension of this same group of believers. We want to focus on those same things and watch God work in our midst like he did back then.

OUR MISSION
To make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

OUR VISION
Our vision is our dreams of what God might do if, as a church, we fully surrendered to Him. Our vision is to be part of the irresistible movement that began after Jesus rose from the dead.

OUR VALUES
Our values can be summed up by saying that we want to keep Jesus at the center of everything we do, and we want to live our lives in such a way that we point people to Jesus in everything we do. We want to be unapologetic followers of Jesus and carry His light into a dark and hurting world.
